How to Install MySQL on Windows – the full tutorial
In this post, I will show how to install MySQL on Windows.
Step 1: Visit this page for your download: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/
Step 2: Click on MySQL Installer.
This will lead to one more page where some more options will be available.
Step 3: MySQL Server – this is the one you should download
Step 4: This will lead you to the MySQL Community Server details page. Scroll down on that page:
Installer itself is 32 bit – but it will install both the 32 and 64 bit versions of MySQL. There will be a web installer and a non-web installer – choose according to your preference. The latter will download everything upfront.
NOTE: Screen will ask for you to login – but you can skip with the “No, thanks” link at the bottom.
Step 5: Start the installation wizard. Agree to License terms.
Step 6: Choosing a Setup Type. Choose “Developer Default” – this install all products needed for MySQL development purposes.
Step 7: You can skip “MySQL for Excel” and “Connector for Python” – if you do not need them.
Step 8: In the next screen, click on Execute.
Several products that are required, will subsequently be downloaded. It might take a few minutes – so just wait until everything is downloaded and automatically installed.
Step 9: After the download, automatically, one by one the products will get installed.
Click Next to go to the Configuration screen.
